I created this piece last year when I had a clear moment of understanding. All of a sudden it clicked that comparing myself to others and wishing I held their talents or their appearance or their laugh instead of mine, would destroy who I was created to be. It would destroy my personality.
Trying to become someone else takes away from being you. It shaves slivers off the core of who you are and eats away your authenticity. I created this as a reminder to myself that I'm imperfect and that's good. I was created to be me and you were created to be you. I can't be you better than you can be you and you can't be me better than I can be me.
I hope it feels like a warm reminder that you weren't created to live someone else's life.
